Hunter x Hunter is an anime television series that aired from 2011 to 2014, based on the manga series by Yoshihiro Togashi. The series follows the story of a young boy named Gon Freecss, who sets out to become a licensed "Hunter" in order to find his father, Ging, who is a legendary Hunter himself.
The anime is a complete reboot of the franchise, with no connection to the previous 1999 Hunter x Hunter anime series. It features an entirely new voice cast. The series is directed by Hiroshi Koujina, with series composition by Atsushi Maekawa and Tsutomu Kamishiro. Character designs are by Takahiro Yoshimatsu.
The anime aired weekly on Nippon TV in Japan from October 2, 2011 to September 24, 2014, spanning a total of 148 episodes. In North America, the series was licensed by Viz Media and aired on Adult Swim's Toonami block from April 2016 to June 2019.
