“Offseason” is a 2021 supernatural horror film written and directed by Mickey Keating. The film stars Jocelin Donahue, Joe Swanberg, Richard Brake, and Melora Walters. It premiered at South by South West in March 2021 before a theatrical release by RLJE Films on March 11, 2022.
The story revolves around Marie Aldrich (played by Jocelin Donahue), who travels to a desolate island where her mother is buried after her mother’s grave is destroyed. She finds herself trapped in a nightmare. The film makes aesthetically pleasing use out of an abandoned Florida beach town in winter. The premise is driven by generational curses and a Lovecraftian demigod who demands terrible sacrifices from the defenseless townies of Lone Palm Beach, Florida.
