"Star Wars," later subtitled "Episode IV: A New Hope," is a 1977 space opera film written and directed by George Lucas. It is the first installment in the original "Star Wars" trilogy and marks the beginning of the iconic and influential "Star Wars" franchise.
The film is set in a galaxy far, far away and follows the journey of a young farm boy named Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill.
