"Disciples of the 36th Chamber" (also known as "Disciples of the Master Killer") is a 1985 Hong Kong martial arts film directed by Lau Kar-leung. It is the third installment in the "36th Chamber of Shaolin" series, following "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" (1978) and "Return to the 36th Chamber" (1980).
Gordon Liu returns in this film, reprising his role as San Te, the character he played in the first movie. However, the story is not a direct sequel but is set in a different context. In "Disciples of the 36th Chamber," San Te takes on the role of a monk who decides to train a group of workers in martial arts to help them defend themselves against oppressive forces.
The film continues the tradition of showcasing martial arts training, intricate fight choreography, and themes of empowerment. While not as universally acclaimed as the original "36th Chamber" film, "Disciples of the 36th Chamber" is appreciated by fans of classic martial arts cinema for its action sequences and Gordon Liu's charismatic performance.
