 "My Wife Is a Gangster" is a 2001 South Korean action-comedy film directed by Jo Jin-kyu. The movie tells the story of Eun-jin (played by Shin Eun-kyung), a tough and ruthless female gangster who is the leader of one of the most powerful crime syndicates in Korea.



In "My Wife Is a Gangster," Eun-jin's life takes an unexpected turn when she receives news that her long-lost sister, who has passed away, had a dying wish for her to get married and settle down. In order to honor her sister's request, Eun-jin decides to find a husband and experience a normal life.


Eun-jin's search for a husband leads her to Kang-su (played by Park Sang-myeon), a mild-mannered and nerdy man who works as a traditional Korean medicine doctor. Despite their differences, Eun-jin and Kang-su enter into a fake marriage, with Eun-jin hoping to use the arrangement to fool her gangster associates.


As Eun-jin and Kang-su navigate their unconventional relationship, they encounter a series of comedic and action-packed situations, including confrontations with rival gangsters and attempts to keep up appearances in front of Eun-jin's crime syndicate.


"My Wife Is a Gangster" was a commercial success in South Korea and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. It received positive reviews for its blend of action, comedy, and romance, as well as Shin Eun-kyung's charismatic performance as the tough female protagonist. The film's success led to two sequels, "My Wife Is a Gangster 2" in 2003 and "My Wife Is a Gangster 3" in 2006.
