High Lane (2009), originally titled Vertige in French, is a survival-horror thriller directed by Abel Ferry. The film follows a group of young friends who decide to climb a mountain trail that has been closed for repairs. What begins as a dangerous adventure quickly turns into a nightmare when they realize they are being hunted by a deranged killer.
The main characters include Fred (Nicolas Giraud), his girlfriend Karine, Chloé (Fanny Valette), a nurse haunted by guilt, Guillaume (Raphaël Lenglet), who secretly loves Chloé, and Loïc (Johan Libéreau). As they ascend the perilous trail, tensions rise within the group, and survival becomes increasingly desperate.
Shot in France, the film runs for 84 minutes and had a budget of about $1.5 million, grossing just over $2.1 million worldwide. It blends slasher elements with psychological tension, earning mixed reviews—IMDb rates it 5.6/10, while Rotten Tomatoes gives it around 60/100. Despite modest reception, High Lane has gained a cult following among fans of European horror for its mix of mountain-climbing suspense and brutal survival themes.
