The Wedding Ringer is a 2015 American buddy romantic comedy film directed and co-written by Jeremy Garelick. It stars Kevin Hart, Josh Gad, and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting.
The film follows Jimmy (Kevin Hart), who owns a wedding company that provides best man services to socially awkward grooms-to-be who don't have anyone close enough to be their best man. Doug (Josh Gad) is a groom-to-be who hires Jimmy to be his best man, as he has no one to fulfill that role. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.
Despite receiving generally negative reviews from critics, The Wedding Ringer was a box office success, grossing over $79 million against a $23 million budget. The film was praised for the chemistry between Hart and Gad, though some felt the premise was a bit contrived. It was released on January 16, 2015 by Screen Gems.
